After a long string of tournament first places in 2016 S Barbre, probably tired of winning so many, took a break, but now he is back bagging the Spring Cleaning Classic with a swift victory. Steve won all his four games, beating NM Mike Zaloznyy and Josh Quint respectively in rounds three and four, the game against Josh was a great one, see below. Steve is a great champion, with a great passion for the game and an amazing sportsmanship, Congratulations Steve! Glenn Bidari survived a wild game against Tony Mccarthy and together with Josh, Jose and Chris Karris, he shared the second place.
In the Under-section Aden Jaeger got the place of honor with 3.5/4, Aden is an up and coming talented young player with a bright future ahead of him, we wish the best on his path to mastery, Congratulations Aden! Second place was for Mihail Minchev and Alberto Martinez took the third place. Over 50 players participated in this event, we were at full capacity in almost every round, fortunately we added more space to our center, which will allow us to accommodate comfortably even more players, new ones are joining the club and the old-timers are coming back. We welcome and thanks everyone for the support, together we will build a robust and vibrant chess community in our city. Thank you also to the out of the state visitors and the others that had come all the way from Germany, Ireland, Brazil, Spain, and other countries.
